My Little Project

My neighbor was getting rid of a few things and brought me in to her garage to see if I wanted anything. I saw a cute old-fashioned play kitchen and hoped maybe it was on the list of giveaways. And it was! I knew I needed to tweak it a bit to make it more boyish. I also wanted to give it a bit of color. But I didn't really want to paint it. So I decided to line the shelves. I used scrapbook paper, contact paper, and a bit of double-sided tape. Super easy. And then I removed the little handles and spray painted them white.

David loves it! He is a good daddy and also makes me food everyday.

Nothing like plastic green peas...mmmm. By the way, I got the food for a buck at the Target dollar spot. It was packaged in a cute mesh bag. A perfect fit for his new kitchen!

I love it! Your tweaks are perfect. :) Clara loves to play "cookin" and push the chair up to the counters and put everything in the drawers into a big pot and stir it around. I wonder if I found/made her a little kitchen if she'd leave mine alone... (hahaha!)

David looks like he is such a good daddy. I bet he's not lacking for a good example in that department though. :)

When David was here he LOVED the pretend food and the little kitchen. I was thinking that you really needed to get one for him....and you did! I am so happy that you did this. You do such a great job on your projects. You are also a very sweet and thoughtful mama.

Love you.

So cute, Kayla! I love the paper lined drawers. And of course it looks like David loves it, too. :) How nice of him to fix you something to eat every day. He's so generous! My nephew has a little plastic play kitchen that is all pink. He loves it and I doubt is bothered by the color at all, but I like yours better. It fits your boys better - and the wood will probably help it last quite a while. Great find (and how kind of your neighbor to give it to you!).
